The three-day TEQIP-III Professional Development Training (PDT) Programme at the Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV) 11-13, Jan 2021, was the fourth online TEQIP-III PDT Programme hosted by the Institute. Prof. Vishal Singh Patyal was Programme Director and Prof. PRS Sarma was the Programme Co-Director. The theme of the programme was “Embedding Quality Culture in Higher Education”. The programmes aim at capacity building under TEQIP-III in technical education policy planners and administrators towards gaining greater appreciation for governance, institutional and policy reforms, as well as the management principles, precepts and practices.

Dr. Pramod Prabhakar Kulkarni, Project Executive Officer,Centre for Energy Regulation,IIT Kanpur [Ex- Regional Executive Director (South), NTPC Ltd.], Chief Guest for the Inaugural Session, addressed the participants on the importance of industry-academia collaboration.

The PDT imparts knowledge sharing among the participants through learning through highly interactive sessions involving multi-media case studies, lectures. The ultimate objective is to empower the participants to transfer the benefits to their key stakeholders – the students, the community, and to the nation.

The three-day programme at IIM Visakhapatnam saw participation from 33 professionals from premier engineering institutions such as NIT’s, Universities, Autonomous and Government Engineering colleges, to name a few, College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar, Bhagalpur, Pune, Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology, Sarang, National Institute of Technology Surathkal, Raipur, Durgapur, Srinagar across 17 states of India. The participants included 20 Assistant Professors, 03 Associate Professors, and 10 Professors. The average teaching experience of the cohort was 16.1 years with the range from 3 years to 37 years. The average age of the participants was 43 years. Among the participants there were 18 Doctorates while the rest had a master’s degree and 11 women among the 33 participants.

The Valedictory address was delivered by Professor. VSRK Prasad, Director, Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE), Visakhapatnam as Chief Guest. Prof. M Chandrasekhar, Director IIM Visakhapatnam and both program directors addressed the participants during Valedictory. The sessions were alive with interactions. and comments, and experience-sharing by the participants about the challenges and rewards of the academic journey.
