IIMV VYKHYAN - The Leadership Talk Series 2024
IIM Visakhapatnam commences the new academic year 2024-25 for the PGP students on June 10th. The CDS team and Placement Committee kicked off with its first episode of the Leadership talk series "IIMV VYAKHYAN'. Mr. Sreedhar Bevara, CEO of BMR Innovations, was the chief guest of the session. Being an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad and a seasoned corporate executive, esteemed government advisor, and renowned author of leadership bestsellers like "Moment of Signal" and "The Roaring Lambs." His expertise led to recognition as a Forbes contributor and a sought-after motivational speaker at elite institutions worldwide. His remarkable leadership contributions garnered extensive coverage in both Indian and international media. In 2021, Mr. Sreedhar was facilitated with Amazon's Popular Book Award in the Business & Economics segment for his acclaimed "The Roaring Lambs", in addition to achieving National-Bestseller status for both of his books.
The session was held at the new campus of IIM Visakhapatnam, where IIMV students, faculty, and staff participated. These students are currently pursuing their 2nd year of MBA degree from the flagship PGP at IIM Visakhapatnam.
Prof. Deepika Gupta, Chairperson of CDS & Alumni Relations, in her welcome speech, greeted the gathering and delivered a quick introduction about the speaker and handed it over to the Placement Committee; it further elaborated on Mr. Sreedhar's achievements over the years and Mr. Sreedhar's plans to do a book distribution to all the faculty and students at IIM Visakhapatnam. He offered 750 books under the BMR Charitable Trust. BMR Trust was founded in honour of his late brother Mr. Muralidhara Rao (known as BMR), a highly acclaimed corporate executive who significantly shaped Mr.Sreedhar Bevara's career. The author copy distribution is funded by BMR Trust in their continued ambition to help the needy, spread knowledge and empower youth.
Mr Sreedhar started off the session with an anecdote detailing his trip to Dubai, which involved a meeting with the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. But that meeting never occurred due to a classic case of miscommunication. He further talked about the skills that a manager should possess and how kindness is a key trait that managers should naturally own; he also spoke about how each individual should decide the vision, write his/her goals down, stick to them and stand on their words. One should be remembered for their actions. He also emphasized that one should have a healthy body, mind, and soul to support one's ambitions and always look to be his/her best self.
The event ended with the distribution of the book 'The Roaring Lambs' to all the students and faculty of IIM Visakhapatnam. Mr. Somashekara, In-Charge of CDS & Alumni Relations, gave a vote of thanks to the speaker, and the gathering summarized all the session's learnings.
