What is the Executive Ph.D. Programme?

The Executive Doctoral Program at IIMV offers a non-residential PhD opportunity tailored for working professionals who seek to engage in rigorous academic research in management while maintaining their professional commitments intact.

Who can apply for the Programme?

Ideal candidates for this program are professionals aspiring to advance their careers in research and academia, including teaching. Applicants should possess strong academic aptitude, a knack for research, and exceptional analytical abilities. Moreover, they should demonstrate ample motivation to thrive amidst the program's rigorous demands.

What is expected from the Executive Ph.D. programme students?

Students will undergo two phases. 

  • The phase 1 covers first year of the program to complete 30 credits of course work in 3 terms, followed by comprehensive exam at the end of first year. 
  • The 2nd Phase covers thesis work, consists of constitution of the thesis committee, thesis proposal, thesis submission and defence. 

On successful completion of two phases, student will be awarding PhD degree.

Do I need to be an MBA for doing Executive Ph.D. Programme?

It is not mandatory, but the coursework offers comprehensive insights into relevant management fields. Various areas within the program seek students with diverse backgrounds to align with specific requirements.

What is the Programme Fee?

The program is designed to complete in 4 years with a fee of Ten Lakhs to pay in three instalments.

  • 1st Instalment: Rs. 5 Lakhs at the time of confirming admission, which includes Rs. 50,000/- as refundable caution deposit.
  • 2nd Instalment: Rs. 2.5 lakhs (in the beginning of the second year)
  • 3rd Instalment: Rs. 2.5 lakhs (in the beginning of the third year)

The above fees are subject to prevailing rate of applicable GST. The lodging and boarding charges, if needed, are applicable as per the institute norms.

What is the selection process?

The shortlisting of the candidates for Personal Interview (PI) will be based on the Statement of Purpose (SOP), previous academic qualifications, and professional accomplishments.

Personal Interview:

There will we two rounds of personal interviews. Upon being shortlisted for personal interview, in the first round the candidate shall appear for a personal interview in front of the Expert panel. The panel will assess the suitability of the candidates for the program based on the portfolio of the candidate.

Shortlisted candidates in the first round of PI will be called for the second round of PI basically to test the suitability of the candidate into the Program at a broader level.

How many areas of Specialization can I apply?

You can apply to a maximum of two areas.

What’s the degree/ title that I get at the completion of the course?

On completion of Executive PhD requirements, the title of the degree awarded will be ‘Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)’.

How much time does it take to complete Executive Ph.D. course?

Students are expected to complete the course within 4 years. In case, the student is not able to complete with in the duration, an extension may be granted under special circumstances, to complete the entire program within 6 years.

How much time I need to be in campus?
Students are requested to submit No Objection Certificate (NOC) from organisation to attend for 3 immersions of 10days in each term, during first phase of the program.
Is there any international immersion?

As a part of course work, there will be 10 days of international immersion at the University of Agder, Norway/ foreign university during 2nd term. The immersion involves completion of two core courses. .

What is the last date for application?

The last date to apply for the executive PhD program 2024 is 21st March, 2024.
