Admission & Eligibility (Batch of 2024-26 Winter Intake)
The admission process seeks to identify the most promising candidates for the EMBA program of 2024-26 Winter Intake. IIMV uses multiple parameters, namely work experience, scores in the entrance examination, and performance in Personal Interviews, to judge the suitability of candidates for the program. Evaluation by multiple criteria is also consistent with empirical research on recruitment and selection that shows greater efficacy of recruitment processes that uses multiple criteria. Multiple criteria are used to arrive at a composite score for every candidate, which is used to select candidates.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The programme is open to Indian nationals residing in India only.
- The candidate must hold a Bachelor's Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of candidates belonging to the Non Creamy Layer – Other Backward Classes (NC-OBC) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS), 40% in case of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disability (PwD) categories], awarded by any University or educational institution as incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature in India or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognised by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

- The bachelor's degree obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or its equivalent.
- The applicant must have a minimum three years of post-qualification full-time work experience as on closing date of application as officer/executive level or higher, or as a professional, or as an entrepreneur.
- Part-time work experience, clerical (non-officer/ non-executive) experience, and apprenticeship will not be considered eligible work experience.
- There is no age limit for applying to the programme.
- Applicants absent for the Executive Management Aptitude Test (EMAT) or Interview or failed to provide the valid test score will be excluded from the EMBA admission process.
- NC-OBC certificate is valid for one year from the date of issue; Applicants must ensure that they submit a valid certificate (valid till December 2024).
- The PwD certificate must be issued by a competent authority in prescribed format as per the RPwD Act 2016 and further amendments or orders in this regard.
- The Institute reserves the right to get the disability status verified from the medical board constituted by the competent medical authority/body. Further, Institute’s policy on the Guidelines for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and extent of accommodations applicable to PwD candidates will be updated on Institute’s website in due course.
- EWS certificate must be issued by an officer of the rank of Tehsildar or above (valid till June 2024)
- The candidates will be shortlisted for the selection process based on the information provided in the online application form and supporting documents uploaded. The candidates meeting the eligibility criteria will be called for Phase 2.
- In this stage, a candidate would need to appear for an Executive Management Aptitude Test (EMAT)*.
- Appearing for EMAT/CAT/GRE/GMAT is a necessary but not a sufficient condition to be eligible for the Personal Interview (PI) round. The institute reserves the right to call a candidate for Personal Interview (PI). The number of candidates to be called for PI depends on the number of seats in the programme and the number of applicants.
- If the candidate is found to be absent for either EMAT or the Personal Interview, their profile will not be considered for the EMBA admissions process at IIM Visakhapatnam.
- EMAT and PI will be conducted online, and the details will be communicated to the shortlisted candidates after the application closure date.
- A detailed guideline for the personal interview will be issued at a later date.
- Admission to the programme is based on the composite score of performance in the EMAT and Personal Interview. The final composite score will be created based on 47.5% weight to EMAT score, 47.5% weight to PI and 5% will be awarded to Female and Transgender applicants for institute’s commitment towards Gender diversity. - The admission offer will be made to a certain percentage of applicants depending on the availability of seats and their satisfying a minimum cut-off (if any) on the Test scores and/ or PI score and/or composite score.
