Director, IIM Visakhapatnam

Dear Potential Applicants,

Greetings from Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam, an Institution of National Importance with many first-mover achievements and distinctive recognitions.

I invite your attention to our new, unique, modular, hybrid-mode MBA program offering, which aims to enhance the strategic, operational and leadership capabilities of defence-sector professionals towards addressing business challenges with innovative solutions.

At the outset, we are grateful to the Department of Defence Production (DDP), Ministry of Defence (MoD), Government of India (GoI) and all the defence industries in the public and private sectors that encouraged us in this endeavour. In this regard, please refer to the Office Memorandum No. 8(52)/2023-D (Coord/DDP) dated 29/11/2024 issued by the Coordination Division of the DDP-MoD-GoI, available on this webpage.

Successful completion of the first year of the program fetches you an Executive PG Diploma; and after satisfactory fulfilment of the second year of the course work, you will be awarded a full-fledged MBA degree. You can pursue the program in online mode for the most part from your respective places of posting, without your work routines getting adversely impacted.

The program flyer and brochure available on this webpage have the full details. We propose to commence the program in May/June 2025-26.

In designing this program, we have drawn upon our expertise and experience in conducting Post-Graduate programs for the young as well as experienced professionals; and also training programs for Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) including the Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs); the National Academy of Defence Production (NADP), the Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO) and Larsen & Toubro (L&T). The program is further customized in close consultation with NADP and select DPSUs that were part of a Committee constituted for the purpose by the DDP.

The program has domestic immersion components in Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL) and Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL), for one week combined in Bengaluru; as well as one-week in NADP, Nagpur. Further, it has a component of two-week international immersion in ESCP Business School (Paris, France), along with industry visits.

My colleague Prof B Srirangacharyulu (PhD: IIT Madras) will be the Chairperson and Point Of Contact (POC) for this Program. His contact details are - Mail: pgdmds-chair@iimv.ac.in; Phone: 94413 05697.

I strongly encourage you to pursue the modular MBA program. The specialized knowledge and skills of management will help you not only to sharpen your domain, functional and behavioural competencies, but also to contribute even more efficiently and effectively to the progress, performance, productivity and profitability of your organizations.

With many good wishes,
