Prasanna Kumar holds a Post Graduate in Management (PGDM) from IIM Calcutta, a master’s degree in engineering with a specialization in Information Technology (Rank 2), and a bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering (Gold Medalist) from Andhra University. He also qualified for his UGC – NET (JRF) in Management in 2022. He received the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) scholarship during his M.Tech.
Before joining IIM Visakhapatnam, he was an Assistant Professor in Marketing at IIM Sambalpur. He holds a PhD (Marketing) from IIM Calcutta. He has over five years of work experience spanning academic, corporate and government sectors.
Before his PhD, he worked as a strategy and operations consultant at Deloitte, advising Fortune 500 companies across various sectors and industries. Before Deloitte, he worked as an Auditor in the Ministry of Defence (Accounts), Government of India. During this engagement, he received the Best Employee Award for the year 2015. He also worked briefly with Persistent Systems as a software developer.
He is an active researcher and is currently working on multiple research articles. His research interests include sales promotions, social media marketing, green marketing, consumer behaviour, sustainable consumption, experimental studies, etc.
