Inauguration of YSIP under the aegis of the ICMR - Batch-2

The Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam inaugurated on-campus mode of the first of the three batches of the Young Scientists Induction Program (YSIP) under the aegis of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on 07th October 2024. Fifty-three young scientists from the various centers of ICMR are participating in the program.

Prof. Prashant Premkumar, the Program Director, extended his warm welcome to the participants and briefed them about the training modules and the program outcomes envisaged. He highlighted that the training program emphasizes both functional and behavioral competencies, essential for thriving in multidisciplinary scientific research. It fosters technical expertise and management skills crucial for success in collaborative environments.

Dr. Archana Upadhyaya, Project Manager (Scientific) ICMR, highlighted that this program is more than just an initiative and that it is an inspiring platform that ignites the minds of young scientists shaping them into future leaders.

Dr. Lakshminarayanan, Deputy Director General (Administration), ICMR, was the chief guest for the inaugural. He highlighted the success of the previous batch of the Young Scientists Induction Program in which a large cohort of scientists from ICMR participated. He further went on to thank all the senior leadership of ICMR who made this training program a reality.

Prof. Kaveri Krishnan, Program co-director, delivered the vote of thanks and expressed her gratitude to Chief Guest Dr. Lakshminarayanan, Prof M. Chandrasekhar (Director IIMV) and Dr. Archana Upadhyay. She encouraged all the participants to fully engage with the program, ask questions, share their insights, and make the most of the networking opportunities that will arise.
