India Finance Conference 2025 (14th IFC 2025)

Visakhapatnam: The Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIM Visakhapatnam) hosted the 14th India Finance Conference (IFC) 2025 in collaboration with IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, and IIM Calcutta. The three-day international conference was held from December 18 to 20, 2025, with a pre-conference workshop conducted on December 17, 2025.

The conference attracted academics, researchers, and industry professionals from India and abroad, making it one of the most significant annual gatherings in the field of Finance and Accounting research.

The conference was structured around sixteen themes, covering a wide spectrum of contemporary finance research areas, including Corporate Finance; Financial Institutions and Regulations; Accounting and Auditing; Financial Markets and Risk Management; Financial Literacy and Financial Education; Insurance, Reinsurance, and Pension Funds; and Sustainable and Climate Finance. IFC 2025 received approximately 400 research paper submissions, of which around 135 papers were selected after a rigorous review process for presentations at IIMV. 

The conference featured keynote addresses by three eminent global scholars: Prof. Tarun Chordia, Goizueta Business School, Emory University; Prof. Reena Aggarwal, Robert E. McDonough Professor of Finance and Director, Georgetown University; and Prof. Bidisha Chakrabarty, Edward Jones Professor at Saint Louis University. Their addresses highlighted emerging themes in liquidity, corporate governance, and financial markets.

A key highlight of the conference was the industry panel discussion titled “From Traditional to Digital: India’s Financial Innovation Journey”, which provided valuable insights into India’s evolving financial ecosystem. The panel comprised senior representatives from leading institutions, including BlackRock, Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited (MCX), National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE), and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). The discussion underscored the growing role of digital transformation, fintech, and innovation in shaping India’s financial markets.

Recognising excellence in research, several awards were announced during the conference. These included five Best Research Paper Awards under the BlackRock Applied Research category, three Best Research Paper Awards by the India Finance Association (IFA), and the MCX Best Research Paper Award for Commodity Derivatives.

Speaking at the inauguration, Conference Convenor Prof. Monika Dhochak and Conference Co- Convenor Prof. Kaveri Krishnan highlighted the importance of such conferences in advancing finance research and fostering collaboration.  

Prof. Sankarshan Basu, Vice President, India Finance Association, speaking at the inauguration, stated that the motto of the conference was to bring together researchers, scholars, and practitioners under one roof, providing a platform to discuss emerging themes, foster meaningful dialogue, and promote diverse research collaborations. He also conveyed his deepest gratitude to IIM Visakhapatnam for its efforts in organizing IFC.

Emphasising the responsibility associated with hosting the event, Prof. Vijaya Bhaskar Marisetty, Dean Academics, IIMV, stated, “Hosting IFC is not just an honour, but a responsibility, as it provides a platform for scholars and faculty to build meaningful collaborations.”

The 14th India Finance Conference reinforces IIM Visakhapatnam’s commitment to promoting high-quality research and fostering meaningful dialogue between academia and industry in the field of finance.
