HP - Elevate - Training Program - Batch - 05 for Officers of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd.

The Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited’s flagship leadership initiative — the HP ELEVATE Program — recently concluded at the Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam with a valedictory session that underscored the importance of continuous learning, adaptive leadership, and operational excellence.

Over three immersive days, HPCL executives participated in a dynamic curriculum designed to sharpen leadership capabilities and accelerate organizational performance. The program covered a diverse range of themes including personal effectiveness, executive excellence, and the human side of leadership, with deep dives into self-confidence, resilience under pressure, persuasive communication, critical thinking, and executive presence.

The sessions were led by distinguished IIM Visakhapatnam faculty — Prof. Chandreie Mukherjee, Prof. Happy Paul, Prof. M.V. Anuradha, and Prof. P.R.S. Sarma — each bringing a unique blend of academic insight and practical experience.

In her closing remarks, Prof. Chandreie Mukherjee, Program Director for both Batch 04 and Batch 05, encouraged participants to combine technical expertise with interpersonal acumen and a forward-looking mindset. “These qualities not only help in achieving targets but also in inspiring teams, strengthening collaboration, and advancing HPCL’s vision,” she said, commending the cohort’s active engagement and openness to new ideas.

Delivering the Valedictory Address, Shri K. Thirumurugan, Chief General Manager – Materials, Visakh Refinery, HPCL, and a two-time guest at the valedictory sessions of Batch 04 and Batch 05, drew on his 35+ years of experience to emphasize the need to embrace change, pursue continuous improvement, and benchmark against the best in the world. Through practical anecdotes, he highlighted the importance of teamwork, proactive problem-solving, and lifelong learning.

He also reiterated HPCL’s commitment to operational excellence, anchored in safety, process integrity, and innovation. “Improvement is a continuous process — both personally and professionally. Put in your best efforts, and the company will always take care of you and your family,” he told the participants.

The program concluded with the distribution of certificates, marking not just the end of the training but the beginning of a renewed leadership journey for all participants.
