Inauguration of Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) Batch 2025-27 (Winter Intake)
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Visakhapatnam inaugurated the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) Batch 2025–27 (Winter Intake) Programme through an online ceremony held on December 21, 2025.
Prof. Prashant Premkumar Nair, Admission Chair, IIM Visakhapatnam, presented the profile of the EMBA Batch 2025–27 (Winter Intake), comprising 107 working professionals from diverse industries. The cohort brings an average work experience of over eight years, with 30% women participants, reflecting a notable improvement in gender diversity and inclusivity.
Prof. Abhishek Srivastava, Programme Chairperson, emphasized the need for professionals to evolve from functional specialists to holistic leaders. Highlighting the impact of Generative AI, he noted that the shelf life of knowledge-based skills is shrinking rapidly, making continuous learning, adaptability, and leadership development more critical than ever.
Prof. Vijaya Bhaskar Marisetty, Dean (Academics), IIM Visakhapatnam, spoke about the transformative power of an MBA, underscoring its role in enabling professionals to think strategically, lead effectively, and deliver results with speed and impact. He highlighted that the programme equips participants with a strategic mindset, scalable leadership capabilities, strong professional networks, enhanced credibility, and disciplined work habits essential for senior leadership roles.
Shri Sridhar Nagarajachar, Chief Business Officer, TimesPro, highlighted how the two-year EMBA programme helps participants build intellectual capital, network capital, and brand capital. He added that the programme offers nearly 1,000 hours of rigorous learning, spanning key domains such as data analytics, decision sciences, strategy, and leadership.
Welcoming the participants, Prof. M. Chandrashekhar, Director, IIM Visakhapatnam, emphasized that leadership and learning are inseparable. He encouraged participants to fully engage with the programme’s academic rigour and peer learning opportunities. He also elaborated on the “3Cs” Customers, Colleagues, and Community. He also highlighted IIM Visakhapatnam’s rich intellectual resources, and the course’s strong emphasis on systems thinking and soft skills development.
Sharing insights from feedback received from previous outgoing batches, it was noted that nearly three-quarters of participants reported significant improvement in their strategic thinking, broader business perspective, confidence, and organizational credibility.
Over 60% stated that the programme enhanced their leadership capabilities, while more than half acknowledged a marked improvement in their interpersonal skills. In terms of career progression, nearly one-third of alumni reported receiving promotions or transitioning to higher roles in other organizations, attributing their advancement to the knowledge and skills gained through the programme. Additionally, 60% expressed greater confidence in their preparedness for senior leadership positions.
With the addition of the new batch, the EMBA community at IIM Visakhapatnam has grown to over 500 professionals across cohorts. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Prashant Premkumar Nair, who expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their continued support and collaboration.
