MDP for officers from Hindustan Shipyard Limited
A five-day customized Management Development Program (MDP) was concluded for the third batch of Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) officers at IIMV campus on 14 October 2022.The objective of this customized program was to develop the overall set of managerial skills, advance the strategy, and enhance the adaptability to the dynamic changes in the organization for the HSL officers.
Addressing the gathering at the Valedictory, the Chief Guest for the event, Shri. D. V. Subba Rao, General Manager (Commercial), Hindustan Shipyard Ltd., spoke about the strategic importance of the training program for HSL. He encouraged participants to constantly upskill and reskill themselves to thrive in the current dynamic business environment.
Sharing the experience of the customized training program, Dr. Praveena Chakravarthy of HSL said, “The 5-day MDP program was a great learning experience and it helped us to understand the different management functions and we could now look at the issues from multiple perspectives.” Another participant, Mr. Sarath Chandra spoke about how the training has helped him to broaden his knowledge on management and he could now empathize with the thoughts of senior managers of HSL. A third participant, Mr. Venkta Srikanth, also spoke about the usefulness of the program and how the various topics from leadership to operation management would be useful in his work.
The 5-day program, led by Prof. Balaji Subramanian and Prof. M.V. Anuradha, covered all the typical functions of management, with special focus on topics such as project management, contract management, design thinking, innovation, customer management, communication, stress management, and interpersonal effectiveness.
