IIM Visakhapatnam's 10th Foundation Day

Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV) celebrated its 10th Foundation Day on January 17, 2024, at its sprawling 241-acre lush green permanent campus. Since its establishment in 2015, IIMV has emerged as a beacon of academic excellence over the past decade, offering six degree-granting programs and several executive educational programs.
 
The highlight of the celebration was the presence of Shri Keshav Rao, Director (Personnel) of Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd., who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, adding a significant touch of eminence to the event and Prof. M. V. Anuradha, Dean (Administration), had the honour of introducing the esteemed guest.

The event commenced with the welcome address given by Ms. Ardra S. Joy, President of the Student Affairs Council, who spoke about the growth and progress of IIMV. The institute's dedication to nurturing talent and fostering leadership has played a pivotal role in shaping the careers of many professionals.

During his address, Shri Keshav Rao expressed gratitude to everyone, highlighting Vizag as the city of joy. He acknowledged the impeccable managerial skills cultivated by IIM and emphasized the institute's role in transforming bright students into industry-ready, high-calibre professionals. He underscored the significant contribution of IIMs to the nation. The speaker also touched upon the vital aspects of coal transportation and storage, emphasizing the economic value of coal as a resource. Shri Rao commended Coal India for its efforts, mentioning the introduction of surface miners that has led to a reduction in pollution. He shared key insights, such as the importance of building credibility, effective communication, and the necessity of following the regulations even during the challenging times.

Embarking on an inspiring journey, Prof. M. Chandrasekhar, the visionary Director of IIMV, spoke about the chief guest's remarkable achievements and contribution. Speaking about IIMV, director has mentioned that how the institute has provided Executive education programs for blue-chip organizations such as NTPC, PowerGrid, HSL, and MCL, as well as the state governments of Assam and Andhra Pradesh. The institution is recognized as one among the five IIMs providing training for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), and it has been selected by the Ministry of Social Justice and Development for its contributions. Additionally, it has been chosen for the Atal Innovation Incubation under NITI Aayog, focusing on entrepreneurship development. The institution is part of the International Association of Universities and has received certification as a "Great Place to Work." Director was also happy to announce the initiation of an Executive PhD program this year.

The chief guest honoured PGP students for their merit-based achievements by awarding each of them a grant of 6 lakhs. Awards were also presented to students, faculty, and staff for their accomplishments in sports competitions. The institute announced and unveiled the logo of new sports event "Spardha" in the presence of Shri Keshav Rao.
