IIM Visakhapatnam Inaugurated the 1st batch of the Executive MBA for Working Professionals

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Visakhapatnam welcomed the first batch of the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) for Working Professionals program at its permanent campus in Ghambhiram, Visakhapatnam on May 21, 2023.

Shri D Shivakumar, Chairman and Independent Director, BurgerKing India and Operating Partner, Advent International inaugurated the function in the presence of Shri Anish Srikrishna, CEO TimesPro, and Prof. M Chandrashekhar, Director IIM Visakhapatnam.

During the inaugural, the Chief Guest Shri D Shivakumar spoke about two prominent and relevant topics, namely, technology, and the importance of management education. In his commencement speech, he sprinkled instances of technological disruptions such as telephone, television, mobile phones, computers, and currently Chat GPT, and how their benefits crystalize over time. On the management front, he urged the participants to make the best out of their MBA learning journey by staying focused and engaged throughout. He motivated them to take up projects that have either the digital or the sustainability component in them.

Welcoming the participants, Prof. M Chandrasekhar congratulated them on joining the program and wished them a very fulfilling learning journey. Quoting Bertrand Russell, he said, ‘More important than the curriculum is the question of the methods of teaching and the spirit in which the teaching is given’ and noted that the MBA at IIMV will be delivered with this spirit. He suggested the participants to collaborate with faculty members to bring out case studies that reflect contemporary management scenarios.

Shri Anish Srikrishna, CEO TimesPro, promised the candidates that his team will provide state-of-the-art learning platform and technology support. He complemented the students for embarking on this learning journey through this EMBA program.

IIM Visakhapatnam EMBA is a master’s degree program designed with the objective of imparting management education to working professionals seeking skills and strategies to make their organizations perform well. The program is offered in blended mode on an Interactive Learning (IL) platform in technical collaboration with TimesPro, India’s leading Higher EdTech platform. 

Prof. Happy Paul, Program Chairperson, mentioned that the EMBA Batch 2023-25 consists of 147 working professionals coming from diverse industries such as manufacturing, IT, banking, consulting, ecommerce, telecommunication, retail etc., with an average work experience of over nine years. He also said that the participants would be in campus for a 5-day immersion module during May 21-25, 2023, post which the classes will be conducted in online mode during weekends.
