Prior joining to IIM Visakhapatnam, he worked as an Assistant Professor at Siksha 'O' Anusandhan (Deemed to be University), Bhubaneswar. He has worked earlier as Postdoctoral Research Fellow at IIM Bangalore and Research Associate at Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management. He holds a PhD degree in Economics from BITS Pilani.
His current research interests lie in development economics and health economics with a special focus on impact assessment of development programs/policies using large-scale datasets and measurement of socioeconomic inequity. He is currently associated and continuing his research work with the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) Chair-Professorship established at IIM Bangalore by the Government of India, which focuses on the impact assessment, utility development, and water economics of rural drinking water supply. His doctoral thesis topic is "An Analysis of Socioeconomic Equity in the Coverage and Impacts of National Health Mission on Maternal and Child Health"
