55th World Continuous Auditing & Reporting Symposium

On the first day of the conference, attendees were welcomed by Prince Doliya, conference chair, and Prof. M Chandrasekhar, Director IIM Visakhapatnam. An esteemed panel of dignitaries, including Prof. Miklos Vasarhelyi (KPMG Professor of Accounting Information Systems, Rutgers Business School ), Prof. Michael Alles (Professor Rutgers Business School), Prof. Suresh Govindaraj (Professor and Director of the Ph.D. and DBA Programs, Rutgers Business School) and Prof. Graham Gal (Associate Professor, Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts) were present for the inauguration session. In his welcome address, Prof Chandrasekhar highlighted the role of data analytics in contemporary financial reporting scenarios and how the IIMV research community contributes to this emerging area of research.

The morning session featured three parallel tracks, covering topics such as artificial intelligence, fraud detection, accounting information system, and machine learning. In the afternoon, Miklos Vasarhelyi conducted a workshop on the application of AI and ML in accounting and auditing, which was well-attended and generated much discussion. The day ended with a networking event, where attendees had the opportunity to connect with each other and discuss their work. Overall, the first day of the conference was a success, with many valuable insights shared and new connections made.
