A six-day customised "Foundation Course in General Management" was concluded for E5 Level Executives of NTPC at the IIMV campus from October 17 to 22, 2022. The objective of this programme was to help NTPC officers improve their overall management skills, move the strategy forward, and make it easier for them to adapt to the constant changes in the organization.
Addressing the gathering at the valedictory, the Chief Guest for the event, Shri Kasa Venkateswara Prasad, AGM (RLI), NTPC-Simhadri, spoke about the importance of the training program. He encouraged participants to constantly upskill and reskill themselves to thrive in the fast-paced world we live in. In his address, Prof. M. Chandrasekhar, Director, IIM Visakhapatnam, emphasised the importance of continuous learning and the relevance of applying the knowledge gained from training at work. He also applauded the participants' enthusiasm and zeal towards learning.
Sharing the experience of the training program, Mr. Pothu Ashok of NTPC said, “The six-day MDP programme, acting like a mirror, showed me who I am. They have provided the tools for it. One who is well aware of himself, and his team will lead his team effectively. The vast and deep knowledge of the faculty and the hospitality they provided will always be remembered. Thanks to IIMV for giving us an enriching experience. I strongly recommend the programme for young executives who are going to be team leaders”. Another participant, Mr. Harish from NTPC, said, “‘The Foundation Course in General Management' for NTPC E5 level executives from IIM Visakhapatnam was thoughtfully designed and well implemented. The contents of the programme are a treasure, and it is a great learning experience for me, which will help me in carrying out my daily activities effectively”. Mr. Bharath Kumar Daram also thanked IIMV for providing valuable training and noted, “I really enjoyed it, and I appreciate that you made it fun! I feel much better prepared to deal with uncomfortable issues. Thank you for your wisdom, experience, and personable presentation”.
The 6-day program, led by Prof. Vishal Singh Patyal and Prof. Saroj Kumar Pani, covered all the typical functions of management with a special focus on topics such as foundational competence-building techniques with advanced leadership aptitude, appropriate for future leaders to meet the challenges of a highly dynamic business environment.
