As part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), IIMV participated in the Nashe se Azaadi – National Youth Students Interaction Program with Dr Virendra Kumar, Hon’ble Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment. NMBA is a flagship campaign to enhance the evidence-based approach toward curbing the menace of drug addiction in India. This initiative was started by Shri Thawaarchand Gehlot, Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment. On this occasion, the IIMV health center invited Dr. Thriveni Reddy, MD, General Medicine at E-CARE Hospital, on Thursday at the IIMV campus. Dr. Thriveni delivered a captivating talk on ‘Harmful effects and addiction of tobacco and substance use.’ Speaking about the growing menace of substance abuse, she said “Drug addiction shouldn’t be treated as a stigma, instead people should consult a health expert and undergo counselling to get rid of it.” She spoke about forms of tobacco consumption and what are the steps to prevent it.

The purpose of this programme was to raise awareness among students about substance abuse. With regard to this, the Cultural Cluster Club held many competitions in various categories including photography, extempore, poster making, quiz, and poetry on the theme of #SayNoToDrugs. Prof. Deepika Gupta, faculty of Strategy, IIMV awarded certificates to the students.
