Launch of Collaborative MBA Program by IIM Visakhapatnam, NIT Warangal & IIITDM Kurnool (Institutions of National Importance)
Three reputed Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) viz., Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV), National Institute of Technology Warangal (NITW), Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Kurnool (IIITDMK) - all Institutions of National Importance (INIs), have announced today (20/9/2023) launch of a collaborative MBA program to provide the BTech and MTech students of the Participating Technical Institutions (PTIs) the opportunity to pursue the prestigious IIMV MBA program.
This offering is line with the New (National) Educational Policy (NEP 2020) that encourages multidisciplinary education, enabling the students to become well-rounded citizens better-prepared for the future, on the strength of holistic development achieved through exploring various facets of managerial knowledge combined with engineering and technical skills.
Offered in an easy-to-pursue hybrid mode, the program will equip the students with better capacities and competencies and thus with wider choice of and more attractive career options.
Prof Chandrasekhar, Director IIM Visakhapatnam thanked the leadership of NITW and IIITDMK for their partnership in this exciting endeavour, a unique initiative that contributes to a brighter future for the students. He added - As NEP 2020 envisages, this collaboration across the three higher educational institutions provides the students with greater flexibility and choice in their studies helping them gain new capabilities that they may not have the opportunity to acquire otherwise, in their academic careers.
Director of NIT Warangal Prof Bidyadhar Subudhi said - this collaboration reinforces the expertise available with our School of Management (SoM), whose endeavor has been to transform technocrats from various streams of engineering into techno-managers.
This collaborative MBA Program, jointly offered by NIT Warangal and IIM Visakhapatnam will enable our students to earn BTech and MBA from two institutes of national importance in 5 years and thereby help the students save one academic year. It will prepare young scientific minds for techno-managerial careers. Many industries look for candidates having a blend of engineering and managerial skills and this program can help engineering students to have stronger foray into the management discipline, with the high brand-equity IIM MBA degree. The faculty of both the institutes can co-teach, enriching the program’s delivery. It can offer a brighter future for the students, preparing them with better competencies and opportunities in employment and entrepreneurship.
