On 28th November 2022, IIMV organised a talk on ‘Sensitisation on the provisions of the POSH Act-2013’ to raise awareness about the implementation of Sexual Harassment of Women at workplace (prevention, prohibition and redressal) Act, 2013. The guest speaker for this event was Lt Cdr Kusum Yadav, IN (Retd.) Deputy General Manager, Hindustan Shipyard Ltd. (HSL); Presiding Officer, Internal Complaints Committee, HSL; and Member ICC, IIMV. After elaborating on the Act’s various definitions, she discussed the Act’s Dos and Don’ts, methods for preventing gender-based misconduct, and the Act’s scope. Notably, she detailed the complaint mechanism, enquiry process, timelines, and highlighted the functions of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). She encouraged women employees to become aware of their right provided to them through this Act. Prof. Pooja Kumari, Chair-ICC, delivered the vote of thanks. Faculty, staff and students were present during the talk.
