                                          Webinar on ‘Arti cial Intelligence: Industrial Manufacturing,
                                          Health Systems, and COVID-19’
                                             18 NOVEMBER

                                           IIMV’s Inter-disciplinary Decision Science and Analytics Lab (IDeAL)
                                           welcomed Prof. Arni S.R. Srinivasa Rao, Director at the Laboratory for
                                           Theory and Mathematical Modelling, Augusta University, Georgia, for

                                           a webinar on ‘Artificial Intelligence: Industrial Manufacturing, Health
                                           Systems, and COVID-19’. Prof. Rao spoke about exact deep learning
                                           machines and the extent to which they approach the parameter of
                                           independent thinking in the absence of rule-based directions, which
                                           has been the original purpose of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He also
       presented a pioneering AI model for COVID-19 identification and spoke about the role of AI in
       manufacturing and healthcare. The webinar was hosted by Prof. Shivshanker Singh Patel, Head, IDeAL,
       and was attended by faculty members and students of IIMV.


       Annual Management Doctoral Colloquium‘Shodh Samagam’

          9 -10 DECEMBER

       IIMV hosted its first Annual Management Doctoral Colloquium (MDC) ‘Shodh Samagam’ in December
       2021. Emphasizing the importance of building a strong ecosystem of research, Prof. Amit Shankar, faculty
       at IIMV (Marketing area) and Chair – MDC, noted, “This colloquium aims to provide a platform for research
       scholars to share their ideas and connect with other academicians as well as established researchers, to
       seek knowledge and learn new research techniques. It will also enable them to refine their ideas based on
       feedback received from eminent faculty members and other peer researchers”. In his keynote address, Dr.

       Ravi Vatrapu, Director, Centre for Digital Enterprise Analytics and Leadership (DEAL), Ted Rogers School
       of Management, Ryerson University, Canada, spoke about the best practices in the doctoral journey and
       take aways from a career in academic research. The colloquium also had sessions on Qualitative
       Research by Prof. Mukta Kulkarni (IIM Bangalore), Doctoral Journey by Prof. Vishal Gupta (IIM
       Ahmedabad), and Case Research by Prof. Sanal Kumar Velayudhan (Ex Dean, IIM Kozhikode). Prof. M.
       Chandrashekhar, Director IIMV, emphasized the need to build a strong research culture in his valedictory






















       50 doctoral scholars from premier institutes across India presented their research from different areas

       such Finance, Marketing, Human resource management, Strategic management, Operations and Supply
