Dr V Ranganathan is a B Tech (Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication) from IIT Madras and a Fellow of IIM Ahmedabad. He is a Fulbright scholar, Harvard University, Energy and Environment Policy Centre, John F. Kennedy School of Government, and an Erasmus Mundus scholar, MESPOM.
Dr Ranganathan was RBI Chair Professor on Infrastructure at IIM Bangalore. He has professional experience of teaching Managerial Economics for about 25 years and introduced text by John Taylor to India.
He teaches Core courses such as Managerial Economics, Macro Economics, Indian Economic Policy, Energy Economics and Energy Modelling, and Electives like Current Economic Scenarios, Infrastructure Financing, Privatization and Regulation, Cost Benefit Analysis, Large Project Appraisal, Public Enterprise Management and Privatization.
He has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, AIT, IIM Kashipur, IIM Indore and IIM Udaipur. His Consulting assignments with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Nepal Administrative Staff College, African Energy Policy Research Network, BEML, Ministry of Water, and Ministry of Power, Govt. of India, deserve special mention.
Dr Ranganathan has been on the editorial board of ‘Sankalpa’ and his papers have been published in Energy Policy, Energy Economics, Sankhya (C), Vikalpa, IIMB Review, Decision, EPW, etc.
