      VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK OBSERVED AT IIMV

         03 NOVEMBER
      The Indian Institute of Management, Visakhapatnam, celebrated the ongoing Vigilance Awareness Week
      from October 30 to November 5, 2023, under the theme - ‘Say no to corruption; commit to the Nation.’ The

      week-long initiative aimed to bring together various stakeholders to collectively participate in the prevention
      of and the fight against corruption while raising public awareness about the existence, causes, and gravity
      of the threat posed by corruption. The event was in collaboration with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation

      Limited (HPCL), and IIMV organized a significant event that served as a platform to sensitize participants
      about the prevention and fight against corruption.
      Shri  Mahesh  Ram,  Zonal  Head-LPG,  HPCL,  shared

      that corruption can be eliminated with the help
      of technology and proper law and order with
      transparency. He further added that our behavioural
      changes and perceptions can only bring positive values

      into our lives; for this, we need to inculcate morals and
      values, which can be done through several activities
      like mass awareness and making the public  and
      students aware of the consequences of corruption.

      Addressing the audience, Shri B Ravi Kanth, Regional Head- Retail HPCL, shared that as a mark of respect
      towards Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel birth anniversary, we celebrate this vigilance week every year. He shared
      that during this week, several programs were organized to promote and make ordinary people and students

      aware of the corruption-free working environment. He shared that multiple opportunities and challenges
      exist for us as citizens of this country that is ranked at 85th position as per Corruption Perception India (CPI)
      2022. He urged that the youth of this nation can play a significant role in protecting and making everyone
      aware of the consequences that are caused by corruption.

      Shri Srinivas, CVO, HPCL, gave a thematic presentation on vigilance awareness, ethics, and governance
      at the workplace. He highlighted the setup of the government of India, where he briefed about the Central
      Vigilance  Commission  (CVC),  Administrative  Vigilance  Department  (AVD),  CVC  Act  2003,  and  Public

      Interest Disclosure and Protection of Informers Resolution (PIDPI) 2004, quoting Potter Stewart - “Ethics
      is knowing the difference between what you have the right to do and what is right to do.” He urged that
      every company should have a code of ethics with leadership and transparency to give a corruption-free
      working environment to staff. The Cultural Cluster, representing the Students’ Academic Council on behalf
      of the Institute, organized a series of events for all students during Vigilance Awareness Week, in which

      prizes were distributed for essay writing, poster-making competitions, and slogan competitions. There were
      enthusiastic cultural performances by students on this occasion.

      At last, Prof. Deepika R Gupta (part-time CVO), IIMV extended her gratitude to HPCL, all participants, and
      student academic council members who contributed to the success of Vigilance Awareness Week 2023.
      She highlighted that IIMV will remain committed to promoting a culture of integrity and vigilance and looks
      forward to continued efforts in the fight against corruption.
