IIMV INAUGURATES NEW BATCH FOR MBA & PHD PROGRAM

Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV) welcomed its 9th batch of the Master of Business
Administration (PGP) program, and the 5th batch of the Doctoral Program (PhD) program held at Hotel
Novotel Varun Beach, Visakhapatnam.
Dr. Pushp Kumar Joshi, Chairman & Managing Director, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. addressed the
incoming batches at the inauguration ceremony as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion he expressed
his sincere gratitude to the parent’s hard work and dedication by which their wards have positioned
themselves to get enrolled in IIMV. He emphasized the three important aspects of IQ (Intelligence Quotient),
EQ (Emotional Quotient), and SQ (Spiritual Quotient) which is going to play a vital role in their learning
journey of two years, consequently enriching their skills to serve the community as well as leaders. He
prominently focused on the importance of applying correct information and knowledge practically in real-life
situations. He further suggested the incoming batch to enrich their content and contextual knowledge by
seeking the maximum support of the institute faculty members, so that the right values can be learned for
their progressive career. At last, he urged the students to remain disciplined and determined throughout the
course to broaden the horizon of learning.
Prof. Milan Kumar, Chairperson (Admissions), IIM Visakhapatnam, welcomed the new batch and expressed
the institute’s willingness to foster the learners to become the leaders of tomorrow. He gave details of
the batch profile. The intake for the year 2023 is a total of 366 students, comprising 222 males and 144
females which is relatively higher than the previous year of 294 students. The students were enrolled after
a rigorous 3-phase admission process. The incoming batch of PGP has a representation from 26 states,
and the diversity ratio is 39% female and 61% male. They come from various graduation disciplines such as
engineering, management, IT, science, arts, and commerce background. This year the batch comprises 72%
students with prior work experience and 28% being freshers.
Welcoming the new learners, Prof. PRS Sarma Chairperson (PGP), gave an insight into the program structure
and urged the students to sincerely focus on the learning which is going to help them in their career exposure
& development, he added that the industries need intellectuals, and the students requires nurturing, he
assured that each faculty member will support them in their overall development. He urged students to work
on discipline to upskill their mindset.
