      YOGA DAY

         21 JUNE

The IIM Visakhapatnam community gathered to observe International Yoga Day with the intention of

strengthening the body, mind, and spirit. Yoga specialists and instructors from the International Institute
of Yoga Research and Training led the yoga session and discussed the significance of Ashtang Yoga with
the community members during the session and program. The instructors explained that the 5 Niyamas
(rules) of Yoga are Shauch (physical & spiritual purity), Santosh (happiness), Tapa (hard work), Swadhyaya
(self-learning), and Ishvara Pranidhan (connecting with cosmic mindfulness). In addition, they shed light

on the five Niyamas, namely Ahinsa (nonviolence), Satya (truthfulness), Asteya (nonstealing), Aparigraha
(non-meaness), and Brahmacharya (energy conservation). It was also noted that we need to identify our
relationship with the universe; only then will we be able to contribute to the betterment of this world.
