      VISIT BY SBI CHAIRMAN

         16 AUGUST

      The State Bank of India Chairman, Shri Dinesh Kumar Khara, made a special visit to the Indian Institute of
      Management, Visakhapatnam, Gambheeram campus. The visit aimed at fostering academic collaboration
      and welfare for the institution. Chairman Khara’s visit highlighted the inauguration of a brand-new SBI

      branch within the IIM Visakhapatnam campus and a plantation drive on the campus premises. Furthermore,
      as a demonstration of the bank’s strong commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Shri Dinesh
      Kumar Khara flagged off a bus to the institute. This bus will be a valuable resource for the institute’s various
      academic and extracurricular activities. He and the team of SBI were welcomed by Prof. M. Chandrashekhar,

      IIMV Director, Jelani Mohammed, SAO (Administration), Kaleem Khan, SAO (HR), faculty members, staff, and
      students.
      Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Shri Dinesh Kumar Khara gave a thematic presentation on different
      aspects of economic factors that play a vital role in making India a progressive nation even during different

      world crises. Citing the reference to the verse ‘Charaiveti- Charaiveti’, he emphasized India’s steady progress.
      He added that perhaps world output growth is projected to decelerate, and the near-term economic outlook
      remains uncertain, but India will remain constant in terms of development. He shared that India started slow,
      and around 2006–07, the economy was somewhere around 1 trillion USD only, but in the last two years, the
      nation has projected rapid growth, and there is an assurance that by 2027 the country will become a 5 trillion

      USD economy. He added that the resources must be optimized in the best possible manner to make India a
      fully-fledged and prosperous country among all nations.
      He said that SBI is committed to serving this country for a better economy, creating value for stakeholders,

      partners, customers, and, moreover, towards the common man of this nation. He added that soon SBI would
      accelerate digital banking with an upgraded version of YONO 2.0, consisting of several new features of CRM
      and analytics, enabling its customers to make hassle-free transactions. At last, he added that customer
      centricity will remain at the core of the business forever.

      Speaking at the event, Prof. M Chandrashekhar, Director IIMV, extended heartfelt gratitude to Chairman Khara
      for his visit and his invaluable contributions to the institution. He said it is a real privilege to have the Chairman
      of SBI on campus, which we will remember for a long time in the history of IIMV. He praised the progressive

      benchmarks of SBI under the current chairman leadership. Sharing his earlier personal anecdote of being a
      banking professional before coming to academics, the director added that SBI used to inspire other banks
      to do exceedingly well in all aspects of the banking sector. He praised the economists at SBI for their vision
      of projecting India as a top-tier economy. He added that the nation is in the secure hands of SBI regarding
      economic growth. He further said that the inauguration of the new branch on the campus will bring prosperity,
      and he is looking forward to fulfilling the commitment towards innovation, education, and sustainability. At last,
      the director presented him with a book and memento to the chairman.

      At last, Prof. Shivshanker Singh Patel, Coordinator (Academics & Research), expressed his gratitude to the
      dignitaries, students, staff, and faculty members for attending the event.
