         12 SEPTEMBER
On September 16, the officers of Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd. (MCL) finished their 5-day Leadership
Development Programme (LDP) at IIM Visakhapatnam.

The chief guest, Shri Anup Kumar Satpathy, IRTS (1993)
Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair Division, Indian
Railways, interacted with the participants at the valedictory
and spoke about how MCL and Railway are inextricably linked.
He urged the participants to implement the LDP session
takeaways into practise in their organisations. He quoted a
Bhagavad Gita lesson, adding, "It is not about obtaining
greater heights or a new status; it is about striving hard to fulfil
the duties and responsibilities and doing honour to the current
roles." He also added, "A competent manager is one who is
both good at his profession and good at managing his
       personal life."

Prof. M. Chandrasekhar, Director of IIM Visakhapatnam, congratulated the participants for successfully
completing their LDP at IIMV. "The importance of experience is enormous since it provides retrospect, while
classroom sessions provide insight, and together they provide us with foresight in one's realm of work," he
stated. He also quoted Mahatma Gandhi's famous phrase, "Live as if you were going to die tomorrow, learn
as if you were going to live forever," and emphasised the necessity of learning and utilising the management
abilities learned from the training programme in their organisation to optimise their growth curve, which will,
in turn, improve overall organisation performance.

Prof. M V Anuradha, Program Director, summarised the 5-day LDP programme activities. She expressed
gratitude to the Director, participants, and Executive Education Program (EEP) office for their continuous
