He explained how the apparel industry works
and survived during the COVID-19 pandemic with
government support, also helping the government
in its initiatives of providing healthcare facilities in
these turbulent times.
IBS Case Workshop: Professor Debapratip
Purakayastha, Director - Case Research Centre,
IBS Hyderabad.
The workshop showcased the journey of
producing a successful and excellent case fit
for publication, teaching and further research.
He highlighted the minute requirements in
case-writing to ensure that case-writing creates
reading interest for its students, who should
be able to solve the jigsaw puzzle and test their
managerial capabilities accordingly. Feedback to
various questions raised by the participants with
an attempt to encourage faculty and researchers
to experiment with case-writing techniques was
provided.

Kozhikode, provided insights for publication of
the selected papers to help the authors develop
them further for publication in the Special Issue
of the Journal of Indian Business Research.
Best Paper Award: Honourable Mention:
Professor Rohit Malhotra, NMIMS, Centre of
Excellence in Analytics and Data Science, Mumbai.
His paper was titled ‘How South-Asian economies
Managed their Trade-risks Collaboratively: An
Empirical Enquiry’.
Promising Doctoral Research Award -
Honourable Mention: Bhawna Sahu (Doctoral
Student) and Professor Siddharth K Rastogi, IIM
Indore.
Their paper was titled ‘India’s Trade Linkages
with Africa: A Gravity Model Approach’.

Professor. G Shainesh, Editor-in-chief of Journal
of Indian Business Research, along with Professor
Elizabeth Rose, Professor Rajesh Upadhyayula and
Professor Deepika Gupta as Guest Editors, plan to
publish a Special Issue where selected papers shall
be considered for publication, after a double-blind
review process.
Professor Shainesh (Conference Chair) and
Professor Gupta (Conference Co-Chair) were
designated Vice-Presidents (http://www.aib-india.
org/about.html) with the former holding additional
charge of Treasurer of AIB India Chapter during
2020-2021 as a token of gratitude towards our
services rendered to the Profession and AIB-India
Chapter Executive Board.
IIMV launches certificate program
on R&D with DRDO
15 August
On 15 August, 2020, the Institute inaugurated
the Certificate Program in Research and
Development (R&D) Management for the
Scientists of Naval Science & Technological
Laboratory (NSTL)/Defence Research and
Development Organisation (DRDO). This
Program is being offered by IIMV jointly with
the Institute of Technology Management
(ITM), DRDO.
The program was planned to be conducted
for a total of 60 participants in three batches
(20 per batch).
IIMV successfully completed the certificate
programme on R&D Management for the first
and second batch of participants. This program
had nine teaching modules across various
foundational and functional areas, and one
module for project. Participants presented the
project at the end of the classroom modules.
Sessions for the third batch commenced on
28 December, 2020. The participants will be
awarded a ‘Certificate in R&D Management’
after successful completion of the course.
