II. TEXT MINING AND TEXTUAL ANALYSIS OF CORPORATE FILINGS FOR DEVELOPING
PREDICTIVE MODELS AND RISK ASSESSMENTS

Dr. Rajendra P. Srivastava, Professor at Emeritus of Accounting
and Information Systems School of Business, University of
Kansas, USA, delivered a faculty research seminar on the topic
‘Text Mining and Textual Analysis of Corporate Filings for Devel-
oping Predictive Models and Risk Assessments’. In his presenta-
tion, Dr. Srivastava provided a live demonstration of the features
of SeekiNF for gathering information by querying the system. An
intelligent search engine, SeekiNF (https://www.seeked-
gar.com), a Cloud based technology, was developed at The
University of Kansas. It provides incredible set of tools to gather
financial and nonfinancial information from SEC filings, perform
textual analysis with its built-in features, and develop analytical
predictive models for assessing risks such as financial risk,
litigation risk, fraud risk, etc.

SPEAK LIKE A PRO

Mr. Divas Gupta, an IIM Kashipur alumnus, TEDx speaker, Ikigai
and public speaking coach, delivered a talk on the topic ‘Speak
like a Pro’. His talk focused on the recipe one needs to keep in
mind to speak without inhibitions and with confidence.
SHODH SAMVAD
8 APRIL
IIM Visakhapatnam organized an Editors’ Talk series ‘Shodh Samvad’,
with the objective to understand editors’ views on publishing in high-im-
pact factor journals. The guest speakers were (1) Prof. Yogesh K. Dwivedi,
founding director of the Emerging Markets Research Centre (EMaRC) and
Co-Director of Research at the School of Management, Swansea Univer-
sity, Wales, UK. He is the Editor in Chief of the International Journal of
Information Management (ABDC A*); and (2) Prof. Paul Jones, Head of
Business Department at the School of Management, Swansea University,
Wales, UK. He is the Editor in Chief of International Journal of Entrepre-
neurial Behavior and Research (ABDC B). Both the guest speakers offered
insights about world of publishing and offered information on best prac-
tices to ensure publication of research work. The discussion was moderat-
ed by our Professor, Dr. Amit Shankar.
