55 WORLD CONTINUOUS AUDITING &

REPORTING SYMPOSIUM

9 and 10 January:

On the 9th and 10th of January 2023, IIMV hosted the 55th World Continuous Auditing & Reporting Symposium
(WCARS), which was expertly led by Prof. Prince Doliya (Assistant Professor, Finance & Accounting). Prof. Miklos
Vasarhelyi (KPMG Professor of Accounting Information Systems, Rutgers Business School), Prof. Michael Alles
(Professor Rutgers Business School), Prof. Suresh Govindaraj (Professor and Director of the Ph.D. and DBA Programs,
Rutgers Business School), and Prof. Graham Gal (Associate Professor, Isenberg School of Management, University of
Massachusetts) were present at the conference’s opening ceremony. Prof. M. Chandrasekhar highlighted the role of
data analytics in modern financial reporting scenarios and how the IIMV research community contributes to this
burgeoning field of study in his welcome address.
The sessions featured parallel tracks on topics including artificial intelligence, fraud detection, accounting information
system, and machine learning. Prof. Miklos Vasarhelyi led a workshop on the application of AI and ML in accounting
and auditing, which attracted a large audience and sparked extensive discussion. The day concluded with a
networking event where participants could discuss their work and connect with one another. The conference was a
success, with many insightful ideas shared and new connections made.
