Professional Program in HRM for HPCL O cers

IIM Visakhapatnam concluded the 5-month Certificate program titled Professional Program in Human
Resource Management for officers from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited on 24 March 2022.
During the Valedictory program, the Chief guest, Mr. K. Nagesh, GM (HR), HPCL, underscored the dual role

of Human Resource professionals as consultants as well as practitioners. He noted that HR professionals
must strive towards continuously updating themselves to stay relevant and offer customized solutions for
one’s specific organizational context. He also deliberated on the HR’s role in building a culture crucial for
the firm’s business strategy.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. M. Chandrasekhar, Director IIMV, emphasized the need for HR to be
conscious of their positions as role models in an organization, and the far-reaching impact of their actions
on individual and firm outcomes.

MDP for HSL O cers

4 APRIL
A customized five-day Management Development Program (MDP) was conducted for the second batch of

Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) officers at IIMV. In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest for the event,
Cdr. JP Gupta, IN (Retd), Director - Corporate Planning & Personnel, HSL and the, spoke about the need to
gain management knowledge and emphasized the need to constantly learn in one’s career as learning
enhances the curve of growth for every employee. The 5-day program saw participation from senior
managers from various functional areas of HSL and covered topics such as project management, contract
management, innovation, customer management, communication, stress management, and interpersonal
effectiveness. Led by Prof. Balaji Subramanian and Prof. MV Anuradha, this program is an outcome of the
MoU signed by HSL and IIM Visakhapatnam in September 2021.
