3. A Girl Child of 10 Years, Open
Heart Surgery, Queen’s NRI Hospital
A 10-years old child BUDA MUDILI from southern Odisha, who
belongs to the primitive BONDO tribe, lost her mother 6 years
back and is under the care of her father. She has been presented
with a case history of 2 months of fever, and she was diagnosed
with Infective Tricuspid Valve (TV) Infective Endocarditis (IE) i.e.
with large vegetation (mass/growth), CCF (congestive cardiac
failure) and anemia. The case was noti ed on 29/5/2020 by the
Queens’s NRI Hospitals to the Medical of cer of the Institute and
the EKAM volunteers of the Institute, seeking the helping hand of
EKAM Foundation Mumbai (EFM).
Language was a barrier for communicating the condition of the
child to her father, as he knew only the native tribal dialect.
Despite such hurdles, through the positive efforts of all concerned,
the child was successfully operated. She was discharged in a stable
condition with a joyful smile on her face.
The Medical of cer and the EKAM volunteers are happy that they
succeeded and made a hat-trick for the Visakhapatnam Chapter of
the EFM, by facilitating the ow of the kind and generous support
of the Foundation to the needy sections of the society.
