CELEBRATIONS AND CULTURAL EVENTS

       INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

         8 MARCH 2021
      On the occasion of International Women’s Day this year, Dr Hina Gokhale (former Director General (HR) at

      DRDO Head Quarters; and former Vice Chancellor of Defence Institute of Advance Technology (Deemed
      University), Pune) delivered a virtual guest talk. In her opening remarks, she chronicled the significant events
      from history that led to the celebration of the International Women’s
      Day.

      In her talk, she emphasized on how diversity – be it of any kind:
      gender, ethnic, religious, regional, linguistic etc., – can provide new
      perspectives  to  varied  problems  and  offer  new  and  effective
      solutions.  She  urged  institutions  like  IIMs  to  look  forward  to
      preparing a workforce that is gender sensitive and gender inclusive

      in order to flourish in future.

       SAMAARAMBH 5.0


      Samaarambh,  the  annual  cultural  fest  of  IIM  Visakhapatnam,  lived  up  to  its  promise  of  absolute  fun,
      entertainment, and delight. Samaarambh 5.0, the fifth edition, was based on the theme of ‘Cinema’. Spread
      over two days, 20 and 21 March, a series of events, competitions and Pronites were organized this year. The
      IIMV campus was decorated with posters, lights, photo booths, super-fun games, and props in an effort to
      recreate the real feel of an offline fest amidst the pandemic. Although the events and interactions were
      limited by the virtual mode, the fun, and energy levels were nevertheless skyrocketing.

         20 MARCH 2021

      Solo Song (Voice of Samaarambh), Dramatics (Lights, Camera, Action), Solo dance (Dance pe Chance) and
      Fashion show (Show Stopper) were conducted on Day 1. There were some incredible comedy performances
      by Naveen Richard and Rahul Dua, and a magical performance by the mind hacker Nirbhik Datta.















          21 MARCH

       Solo  Mimicry  (The  Imitation  Game),  Group  Dance
       (V-Twist), Battle of Bands (Surr Sangram), and Short-film
       making (Laghu Chitra) competitions were conducted on
       Day 2. This day culminated with extremely energizing and
       soulful performances by Vaani Bhasin and Yasser Desai.
