Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam Inaugurates PGPMCI 2026 to 2028 Batch 3
The Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam formally inaugurated the third batch of its Post Graduate Programme in Management for Centrally Funded Technical Institutions and Institutions of National Importance (PGPMCI) 2026-2028 cohort. This unique initiative is designed to provide India’s top engineering talent with a decisive edge by integrating technical expertise with world class management education, enabling students to pursue an MBA alongside their B.Tech.
The inaugural session commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Prashant Premkumar Nair, Admissions Chair at IIM Visakhapatnam. He warmly welcomed the incoming cohort of 78 participants representing over 19 states and 25 Institutions of National Importance. He emphasized that such diversity would foster enriched peer learning, collaborative thinking, and cross functional understanding, which are key pillars of the programme. He also highlighted the journey ahead as one of growth, learning, and achievement.
A brief introduction to the programme was given by Prof. M. Shameem Jawed, Chairperson of PGPMCI. He outlined the structure, objectives, and distinctive features of the programme, emphasizing its blend of academic rigor and practical application. He expressed hope that the participants would learn with a beginner’s mindset, high energy, and a proactive approach, while also building lifelong professional connections and camaraderie.
The opening remarks were delivered by Prof. M. Chandrasekhar, Director of IIM Visakhapatnam. Drawing insights from the India Skills Report 2025 and the Future of Jobs Report, he spoke about the importance of structured collaboration, principled leadership, and resilience. He expressed confidence that such programmes would contribute meaningfully to India’s vision of becoming a 5 trillion-dollar economy.
Delivering the inaugural address, Chief Guest Shri Rajkumar Dubey, Director Human Resources at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited spoke about the evolving nature of education. Noting that traditional linear learning paths are being redefined by innovative programmes such as PGPMCI. He emphasized that the integration of technical expertise with strong business understanding, combined with the rigor are essential for developing future leaders capable of navigating complex organizational challenges effectively.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Prashant Premkumar Nair, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, Director, faculty members, and participants. He acknowledged the efforts of the Program and IT team and reiterated the institute’s commitment to delivering a meaningful and enriching learning experience.
