IIM Visakhapatnam - SIDBI Entrepreneurship Programme Concludes with 30 Registered Ventures

The 18-month PG Certificate in Entrepreneurship programme, jointly offered by the Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV) and the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) Skill to Enterprise Model (STEM) program, concluded on a high note, with all 30 participants successfully registering their ventures.

The programme has delivered significant outcomes, with each venture raising an average funding of ₹15 lakh and collectively generating employment for nearly 90 individuals. This milestone underscores the programme’s strong emphasis on fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation in the Telugu states. 

The Convocation ceremony was graced by Prof. P. R. S. Sarma, Dean Buildings and Works, IIMV, and Shri Govindarajan Baskar, AGM, SIDBI Visakhapatnam Branch Office. The programme combined 10 months of rigorous academic training with 8 months of intensive mentorship focused on venture creation.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Sushil Kumar, Programme Director, highlighted that the carefully designed curriculum, which included campus immersion, exposure visits, and interactive sessions with bankers, venture capitalists and industry experts, nurtured participants into capable entrepreneurs ready to navigate the complexities of the business ecosystem.

In his address, Prof. P. R. S. Sarma emphasized the importance of discipline and consistency in entrepreneurial journeys, while Shri Govindarajan Baskar spoke about the role of financial instruments such as debt and equity in building sustainable enterprises.

Participants also shared their experiences, describing the programme as uniquely designed to cater to the evolving needs of entrepreneurs and to support them in building sustainable businesses. A key highlight of the event was the product launch by entrepreneur Mr. Karanam Bala Siva Tarunkumar , who introduced Hydrotribe, an innovative indoor farming solution tailored for urban households.

Prof. Srinivas Josyula, Programme Co Director, expressed his gratitude to SIDBI, the Chief Guest, Prof. M. Chandrasekhar, Director, IIMV, and all participants. He reiterated IIM Visakhapatnam’s commitment to transforming entrepreneurial ideas into impactful ventures. Prof. Sushil Kumar thanked all the stakeholders. The IIMV- SIDBI programme office led the initiative with a dedicated four-member team, ensuring its successful execution.

The programme’s successful completion aligns with the institute’s 10-year milestone, underscoring its mission to shape entrepreneurial leaders who drive innovation across business, government, and society.
