Visakhapatnam: The Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam has commenced the admissions process for the fourth batch of its Winter Intake Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) programme. Designed for working professionals, the programme combines advanced managerial learning with AI-integrated applications to enable participants to make informed decisions, lead transformation and drive business growth in an increasingly AI-native ecosystem.

The programme was launched on the sidelines of a fireside chat titled “Leading What’s Next: From Experience to Readiness”, moderated by Prof. M Chandrasekhar, Director, IIM Visakhapatnam, with Chief Guest Mr Raj Kumar Dubey, former Chairman, Indraprastha Gas Limited and former Director (HR), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, at the institute campus. Framed as An Industry–Academia Conversation on Leadership, Skills and Transformation, the discussion examined contemporary shifts in industry, evolving leadership expectations, professional readiness and the impact of technological change on organisations and their workforce. The conversation was followed by a press meet and the formal unveiling of the EMBA programme brochure.

Reflecting on the evolving global business ecosystem, Prof. M Chandrasekhar, Director, IIM Visakhapatnam, emphasised the need for professionals to build capabilities proactively as technology, markets and organisational expectations continue to change. He said, “Business leadership today is being reshaped by technology, volatility and the need for faster, better judgement. Professionals must therefore build capabilities before disruption demands it—combining managerial depth, digital fluency and resilience to lead organisations with confidence through sustained transformation and growth.”
The two-year Executive MBA programme comprises 740+ hours of interactive executive learning focused on building a strong professional foundation in business, management and strategic decision-making. It enables participants to make informed decisions using data, insights and emerging digital technologies, while leveraging AI tools to improve productivity, problem-solving and business performance. The programme also includes a three-day opportunity for participants to experience the Exclusive Global Learning Innovation Bootcamp in collaboration with DCAC, Denmark, offering exposure to Nordic workplace values and business contexts. Participants will undertake on-ground research with Danish managers and employees and translate their observations into insights, personas and rapid prototype concepts using AI and digital tools. This is complemented by two five-day campus immersion modules at IIM Visakhapatnam.

During the press meet, Prof. Abhishek Srivastavam, Chairperson, EMBA, IIM Visakhapatnam, added, “The value of an EMBA lies not in revisiting management concepts, but in helping experienced professionals examine familiar business challenges with a wider, more rigorous lens. Our curriculum, campus immersions and an opportunity to have Denmark experience are designed to broaden perspectives, strengthen judgement and enable participants to apply learning across varied organisational contexts.”

Previous cohorts have attracted participants from core sectors including IT, banking, manufacturing, PSUs, real estate, marketing, EdTech, healthcare and telecommunications, reflecting a diverse pool of mid-to-senior professionals. Nearly 60 per cent of professionals enrolling in the programme have been in the experience bracket of eight to 20 years.

The AI-integrated curriculum is delivered across six terms over two years, with participants engaging across core management domains including Marketing, Economics, Finance & Accounting, Organisational Behaviour, Human Resources, Information Systems, Production & Operations, Strategy and Entrepreneurship. The second year focuses on themes such as project management, business ethics and laws, alongside five electives each across three terms and a capstone project in Term 6.

The Executive Master of Business Administration blends lectures with real-life case studies, quizzes and assignments. It is delivered through a state-of-the-art Interactive Learning (IL) platform and follows a Direct-to-Device (D2D) model. On successful completion, participants earn an Executive MBA degree and receive IIM Visakhapatnam Alumni status. The programme also offers value-added learning experiences through the Pre-EMBA Leadership Journey, CXO Masterclass Series, and Industry Insights Series.

Admissions are based on a composite score derived from the EMAT and a Personal Interview, while candidates with valid CAT, GRE or GMAT scores may qualify for an EMAT exemption. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree with at least 50 per cent marks or an equivalent CGPA, with the eligibility threshold at 45 per cent for NC-OBC and EWS categories and 40 per cent for SC, ST and PwD categories. Applicants must also have a minimum of three years of full-time work experience at an officer/executive level or higher, as a professional or as an entrepreneur.
