Celebrating the 80th Independence Day at IIM Visakhapatnam
IIM Visakhapatnam celebrated the 80th Independence Day with a programme that brought together faculty, staff, students, EEP participants, and members of the IIMV community.
The programme began with the singing of ‘Vande Mataram’, commemorating 150 years of the National Song, followed by the hoisting of the National Flag by Prof. M. Chandrasekhar, Director, IIM Visakhapatnam, and the National Anthem.
In his address, Prof. Chandrasekhar drew upon the Independence Day-eve address of the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, highlighting the pivotal role of India’s youth in nation-building and the collective responsibility towards realising the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
He underscored the 4Ds: Diligence, Devotion to Work, Dutifulness, and Dedication to Development as guiding principles towards this goal. Reflecting on the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, he described India by 2047 as a completely Swachh Bharat (Clean and Healthy India), Shikshit Bharat (Educated India), Sashakt, Saksham and Samarth Bharat (Strong, Capable and Self-reliant India), Samaveshi Bharat (Inclusive India), Samvedanshil Bharat (Compassionate and Sensitive India), Sundar Bharat (Beautiful India), Surakshit Bharat (Secure India), Sampann and Samruddha Bharat (Prosperous India), and ultimately, Sarvashreshtha Bharat (the Best India).
He also highlighted the role of entrepreneurship and job creation in India’s growth journey and IIMV’s contribution towards fostering entrepreneurship and skill development. Prof. Chandrasekhar expressed his appreciation for the security, housekeeping, and gardening staff for their dedicated efforts in keeping the campus clean, green, and secure.
The celebrations continued with vibrant cultural performances by students, adding to the spirit of patriotism and togetherness. As we celebrate the freedom we cherish, we reaffirm our collective commitment to contributing towards the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
