Young Scientist Induction Program
The Young Scientists Induction Program is a pioneering initiative designed by the Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV) in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to foster the professional development of young scientists and science administrators. The program focuses on building and enhancing the participants' competencies in managing people, projects, processes, and products while simultaneously nurturing their leadership and innovation capacities. With a blend of functional and behavioral training, this comprehensive program seeks to bridge the gap between science, industry, and society, aligning with the country’s socio-economic priorities.
Structured over four weeks, the program provides participants with practical exposure to research and innovation projects, facilitating cross-fertilization of ideas through interactions with renowned scientists, industry experts, and academic leaders. Participants are expected to gain insights into contemporary issues such as science policy formulation, healthcare analytics, and the role of emerging technologies in healthcare. The incorporation of a 70-20-10 learning model ensures a holistic development experience, combining classroom learning with real-world application and peer collaboration.
The program’s salient features include fostering a performance culture, promoting responsive governance, and encouraging de-siloization among ICMR professionals. Through these initiatives, participants are expected to develop a strong solution-oriented mindset and systems approach, enabling them to effectively contribute to India’s progress in science and technology. This program is set to play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of leaders, with participants poised to emerge as key enablers for India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
The customized Program aims at enhancing the capacities of the young scientists and science- administrators of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) towards strengthening the science-industry-society linkage as a productive and durable continuum.
