IMPRESSIONS

                                                   Poetry

                   Beyond the chase

In childhood, life seemed a simple game,
Just playing with friends, no worries or shame.
Then adolescence brought a new aim
                   Seeking approval, youthful acclaim.

Academia next, a gateway to thrive,
A career path awaited, fortune to dive.
Love blossomed too, hearts set alive,
New meanings to life, feelings to revive.

The professional years brought realizations galore,
Of struggles and truths, nevermore to ignore.
Time became the essence, a precious ore,
Yet dreams raced ahead, always wanting more.

Trapped in that loop, chasing future’s haze,
The present slipped by in a dizzying craze.
Now I pause to cherish these counted days,
Embracing each moment, life’s fragrant bouquets.

For when grand events make our hearts stand still,
We relish the gifts that our cups do fill.
But soon forget again, by habit’s old drill,
                   Resuming the race, ambition’s uphill.

The people around, though a diverse array,
Become interwoven in life’s tapestry’s sway.
We love them, we hate them, yet they renew
Our souls with their presence, a bonding true.

When they depart, a hollowness pervades,
For every soul shaped us, left its shades.
The good and the bad, all memories embrace,
For in the end, only reminiscences last.

Cherish each life that crosses your way,
                   Understand, forgive, make connections stay.
For one day you’ll long for those warmths sway,
When all that remains are the memories’ play
