Seminar on India’s Techade - Chips for Vikasit Bharat

The Indian Institute of Management, Visakhapatnam (IIMV) virtually witnessed and successfully celebrated

the inauguration of India’s first Semiconductor Fabrication Facilities by the Honourable Prime Minister,
Shri Narendra Modi, at its permanent campus on March 13, 2024. The Prime Minister laid the foundation
stone for three Semiconductor facilities, which are the First Fab Facility in Dholera, Gujarat, the Outsourced
Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in Sanand, Gujarat, and the OSAT facility in Morigaon,
Assam, aligning with India’s Semi-Conductor Mission and aiming to strengthen semiconductor facilities in
India.
Prof. Shivshanker Singh Patel, Coordinator of Academics and Research, emphasised the importance of the
program by extending an invitation to Mr. Ravi Raj Nelapudi, Technical Manager, Quest Global, to join as
a guest for the day to support the nation on this special occasion. Mr. Ravi Raj offered valuable insights
into the semiconductor industry and its direct impact on India’s technological advancement, illustrating how
semiconductor chips play a crucial role in various devices, from everyday household objects to sophisticated

appliances. India has made substantial strides in the IT sector, advancing from system-in-package (SIP) to
System-on-Chip (SOC) manufacturing, with well-planned strategies and targeted investments to address
future challenges and cultivate opportunities for budding entrepreneurs.
India’s Techade demonstrates India’s commitment to embrace the digital age to ensure sustainable
development, create new job opportunities, enhance quality of life, and establish a strong presence in the
global technology landscape. The government has set up the India Semiconductor Mission to create an end-

to-end semiconductor ecosystem that will make the nation a significant player in the global semiconductor
industry. Staff and students of IIMV attended the program, watched the live streaming from Dholera, and
listened to the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s speech.
