Institute’s Entrepreneurship
Initiatives Visakhapatnam is turning into a hub for start-ups. The
opportunities here are tremendous for entrepreneurs.
The ecosystem of the city is characterised by the presence
of many big manufacturing companies, the developing IT
sector, pharmaceutical industry, educational institutes,
corporate offices and the mesmerizing beaches and
mountains. The city provides the right atmosphere for
any entrepreneurial venture to prosper. The Incubation
Centre at IIM Visakhapatnam is working towards the
development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem of
Andhra Pradesh. It has already begun to create an impact
by mentoring and supporting women entrepreneurs.
At the Incubation Centre, we provide a platform for
Women Startup entrepreneurial ventures to connect with mentors,
academia, and other key players for entrepreneurial

IIM Visakhapatnam Incubation Centre, in collaboration with
Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has
set up a TIDE Incubation Centre under TIDE 2.0 Scheme. This
scheme aims to promote tech entrepreneurship by providing
financial and technical support to promising ideas. The selected
ideas are being incubated at the Incubation center of IIM
Visakhapatnam. The incubator, IIM-V, will get a grant-in-aid of
Rs 1.7 crore from the ministry of electronics and information
technology (MeiTY) to play the role of an angel investor in these
start-ups. MeiTY has sanctioned IIM-V as a G3C (Group-3 Centre)
incubator. G3Cs, according to the MeiTY website, are supposed
to ‘initiate and evangelize innovation and entrepreneurship
ecosystems in unexplored regions. For this project, IIM-V has
floated the IIMV Foundation for Incubation, Entrepreneurial
Learning & Development (IIMV-FIELD). The Tide centre has to be
operated as a Section 8 company with a mandate to nurture and
support technology start-ups.
