Volkswagen’s Turnaround: Scandal to Sustainability
The Volkswagen emissions scandal, often referred to as "Diesel Gate," represents one of the largest corporate scandals in the automotive industry. In 2015, it was revealed that Volkswagen had installed defeat devices in over 11 million diesel vehicles globally to manipulate emissions tests, allowing the cars to meet regulatory standards while emitting far more pollutants in real-world driving conditions. This deception, driven by a corporate culture prioritizing performance targets and profits over ethics, exploited regulatory loopholes and severely damaged Volkswagen's reputation. The immediate consequences included billions in fines, widespread vehicle recalls, class-action lawsuits, and the resignation of key executives. In the long term, Volkswagen suffered market share losses, operational challenges, and underwent a significant leadership overhaul. In response to the scandal, the company initiated extensive recovery efforts, including investing heavily in electric vehicle (EV) technology, implementing ethical reforms, and shifting towards sustainability. This case study explores the root causes of the scandal, its impact on Volkswagen's brand and operations, and the company's transformation from diesel deception to a commitment to sustainable mobility. It also highlights the lessons learned and the broader implications for corporate governance, environmental responsibility, and the future of the automotive industry.

Climate Change and Carbon Dynamics: A Comprehensive Strategy for Sustainable Solutions
Authors: Shefali Saluja, Rishika Nagrath, Shivam, Amandeep Singh This case study examines the main concerns surrounding climate change, emphasizing how human activity —such as the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation— affects the ecosystem and exacerbates global warming by raising greenhouse gas emissions. It looks at the socio-economic repercussions and observes that vulnerable communities suffer disproportionately from climate change, which also makes inequality worse. In this case analysis there is a synergy of qualitative and quantitative data. The urgent need for worldwide cooperation to cut emissions and limit temperature rise is emphasized in the UN's AR6 Report. It promotes sustainable behaviours, cleaner energy substitutes, and lowering carbon footprints through energy efficiency. The use of carbon capture and storage is promoted as a practical means of reaching net-zero emissions to effectively combat climate change and ensure sustainably, investments in clean energy, resilient infrastructure, and green innovation are essential.
