Prof. Sarma has obtained his PhD and MBA (Technology Management) from IIT Delhi. Before joining, he was associated with IIM Raipur. He comes with a rich Industry, teaching, administrative and Project experience and was previously Professor In-charge of Administration & CAO, Professor In-charge of Infrastructure & Facilities, Chair of PGP, PGPWE, Executive Education Programs, Student Affairs, First Appellate Authority (RTI 2005).

His research interests lie in the areas of I-4.0 - LSS and Circular Economy.

Prior to joining Academics, Dr. Sarma has worked in C-DoT (A Telecom Technology Centre for Govt. of India) and Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (A Govt. of India Enterprise).

Dr. Sarma, has more than 32 years of Experience in which more than 20 years of wide and varied industry experience in field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Teaching, Training & Consultancy Telecom and Information technologies, Feasibility study – preparation of techno-commercial proposals, Business Development, Project Management, Project Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Client Relationship development and Maintenance, Documentation, and Material Management. On individual assignments viz., Project Management, Project report preparation, Feasibility analysis, Project execution etc. visited several foreign Countries viz., Algeria, Austria, Bangladesh, Benin, Botswana, Burkina-Faso, Denmark, Egypt, France, Ghana, Ivory-coast, Japan, Kenya, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Latvia, Malaysia, Mali, Mauritius, Morocco, Nepal, Norway, Russia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Syria, Sweden, Togo, Tunisia and USA etc.
