Prof. Shameem has done his FPM (PhD) in Finance & Accounting area from IIM Indore. Prior to joining IIMV, he was working as an Assistant Professor at MDI Murshidabad. He has also worked at SunGard (now FIS) for over five years as consultant in various domains such as public sector, finance, information, and knowledge management. His teaching interests are Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance, Valuation, Start-up Financing and Financial Analytics. His research interest primarily lies in Corporate Finance, Governance, Capital Markets, Entrepreneurship and Tourism domain.

Shameem has been training and mentoring Start-ups and handhold them from ideation to implementation phase since the last three years. As Program Director, he has successfully incubated 40+ women ventures, under Women Startup Program being funded by NSTEDB (DST) and Goldman Sacs over the last three years. He also heads the G3 TBI at IIM Visakhapatnam under the TIDE 2.0 program of MeitY, GoI. IIMV since now have incubated 5 ventures under the TIDE 2.0 scheme. He also actively trains the faculty & administrators of various government funded technical institutions on various aspects of Entrepreneurship development in Academic institutions under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP)-III, under the aegis of the National Project Implementation Unit, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. He has been actively sharing his knowledge and knowhow in the entrepreneurship space as Keynote and Invited speaker at various forums like –ALEAP, Vizag Chamber of Commerce, TiE, AU, NASSCOM, among others.

  1. Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF): Capacity-building cum Consultancy Project from the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, under the MGNF Scheme of the Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (“SANKALP”) Program.

    • About the project: The project involves training 76 functionaries ("Fellows") in public policy and skills development, and to capacitate them, through their work as an understudy to the Collector & District Magistrate, in 76 districts of the country. The project duration is two years. We will need to mentor and handhold the Fellows.
    • IIMV features among the only 8 IIMs in India who have been awarded this prestigious project from the ministry of MSDE.
  1. G3 Centre under Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurship (TIDE) 2.0 Scheme (MeitY, GoI)

    • About the project: TIDE 2.0 aims to train its focus primarily (but not limited to) on technology based entrepreneurship support through use of emerging technologies like IoT, AI, Block-chain, Robotics etc. for eight select thematic areas based on national priorities particularly in the realm of – Healthcare, Education, Agriculture, Financial inclusion including digital payments, Infrastructure and transportation, Environment and clean tech, Clean energy solutions, and Other emerging areas (flexibility to support tech startups to address societal challenges in ICTE areas).
    • IIMV is amongst five chosen IIMs (A, B, C, U, V) for TIDE 2.0 and only amongst the 3rd generation IIMs.
  1. Women Startup Program 2020-21 in collaboration with IIMBI, NSRCEL, IIMB

    • Project Duration: August 2020-August 2021
    • About the Program: The Women Startup Program aims to support ambitious and innovative women entrepreneurs by enabling them to transform their idea into a business venture. First ideated with Goldman Sachs in 2016 , the Program is designed to focus on enhancement of the entrepreneurial and managerial skills of women leading early and ideation stage ventures. The Program provides business knowledge for the entrepreneurs to build on their idea in the initial stage through Massive Open Online Course. The Program then progresses by offering selected candidates a 2 month virtual Launchpad Program where entrepreneurs will undergo business training to develop their prototype. Finalists are selected to be a part of Incubation at NSRCEL and partner institutions/incubators like IIMV-FIELD, IIM Visakhapatnam where they will focus on developing their product and scaling up. The Program is fully sponsored by Goldman Sachs. Select participants would be eligible for seed support from DST.
    • 20 participants were shortlisted who are now incubated at IIM Visakhapatnam for one year.
    • Each participant of WSP-2020 is provided with the following facilities both at Vizag:
    • Office Space with access to necessary stationery, printing and copying facilities.
    • Access to comprehensive library resources (physical books, e-books, journals and databases)
    • Meeting room with state-of-the-art video conferencing facilities

  1. “Transformational Leadership” a six-day long capacity development program for senior executives from CPSEs.

    • Number of Participants: 39 from 20 CPSEs
    • About the Program: This unique management development programme has been designed with the objective of enhancing the leadership competencies and managerial effectiveness of professionals from Central Public-Sector Enterprises (CPSEs). The programme is for executives from middle management / functional heads to enable them to transit seamlessly into higher leadership roles. In doing so, it seeks to raise the capacities from a functional excellence perspective to a higher order – such as, deeper understanding of the key management precepts, building strategic focus and transformational leadership. In essence, it is a curated, capsuled programme aimed at facilitating managers to graduate into leadership roles.
  1. “Bootcamp for Women Entrepreneurs” – a week-long training cum capacity development program for women entrepreneurs from AP, TS, Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand.

    • Number of Participants: 64 Women Entrepreneurs
    • About the Program: A customised program was designed for the capacity building and managerial inputs of the aspiring women entrepreneurship from the region. The Program was attended by 64 participants from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State. The program outline, broad contents and their delivery sequence were designed by Program Director at IIMV. Sessions were conducted by 2 internal faculty members and 2 external/ visiting faculty members from IITs/IIMs were invited to deliver lectures, along with 6 industry speakers for CEO/Entrepreneur sessions. IIMV received Rs 15.5/- Lakhs as sponsorship for covering all cash and non-cash expenses, institutional overheads, professional and admin fee, etc.
  1. Women Startup Program 2018-19 in collaboration with NSRCEL, IIMB
    • Program Director: M Shameem Jawed
    • Project Duration: January 2018-July 2019
    • About the Program: IIM Visakhapatnam had partnered with NSRCEL, IIMB to conduct the Women Startup Programme -2018. The Objective of this programme was to encourage entrepreneurship among women by giving them various support like workspace, mentorship, networking opportunities etc. The programme received tremendous responses coming only from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana region. About 66 participants were selected out of 1500+ applicants for Bootcamp 1. At the end of Bootcamp 1, a pitch day was conducted. Finally, 26 participants were shortlisted who are now incubated at IIM Visakhapatnam for a year.
    • The Incubation centre for WSP works closely with EPIC (Entrepreneurial Passion and Innovation Club). With this initiative, the students can reach out to the WSP participants and help them with various business-related issues. In this way, the students are able to get first-hand experience in manging start-ups. On the other hand, the entrepreneurs can get access to expert help from these students under the guidance of the faculty members. This programme has given a platform to the students to connect with entrepreneurs and work on real time basis in the form of business competitions, part-time internships and live projects. The participants are also given opportunities to present their ideas at various events conducted by well-known business associations, Non-Profit Organisations, Industries etc.
    • Each participant of WSP-2018 is provided with the following facilities both at Vizag and Hyderabad:
    • Office Space with access to necessary stationery, printing and copying facilities.
    • Access to comprehensive library resources (physical books, e-books, journals and databases)
    • Meeting room with state-of-the-art video conferencing facilities
