The Academic Council at the Indian Institute of Management, Visakhapatnam is a four-member elected body. It comprises three senior members (one of whom is a representative of the body in the Students Affairs Council), assisted by a junior member from the first year batch. The Council is responsible for coordinating the electives selection process for the students right from their 3rd term. This includes identifying courses that are relevant and valuable to the students in the contemporary context, and conducting the selection process. Further, it creates an enabling ecosystem to facilitate the students' learning process through the aid of a pool of Subject Representatives. The Council also organises regular interaction sessions for the students with eminent academicians and industry stalwarts, to ensure that the students develop an understanding of how the concepts taught can be applied in practice and to keep them abreast of emerging trends in the research space as well.
ZORBA (Hobbies and Interests Club)
Engaging in hobbies brings immense pleasure and a sense of belonging. Zorba aims to hold events that are based on interests of the batch and also create an environment wherein individual experiences and interests get a chance to flourish through sharing of each other's hobbies. Since the inception of this club, events like cooking and photography competitions have been organised.
Student Media Cell
The student media cell has been formed to liaise with and facilitate interaction with both digital and physical media and to ensure publicity for the institute at various events. Through the endeavour of the media cell, IIM Visakhapatnam has garnered a strong media presence on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pagalguy, LinkedIn. There is a student blog dedicated to IIMV. Apart from these, the student media cell ensured coverage in the press for Exordia and Life at IIMV video. The Cell also coordinates with other colleges for student participation in management fests.
The Consulting Club of IIM Visakhapatnam works as an umbrella club in the business domain to promote and nurture varying functional interests of the students beyond the classrooms. It is a student-run body and is a part of the business cluster at IIM Visakhapatnam. The club works as an interface between the students and the industry. The main activities of the club comprise the below engagements: Creating Knowledge Repository, Conducting Workshops, Conducting Intra and Inter College Events, Organising Conclaves, Facilitating Live Projects, Mentoring Juniors, etc.
Entrepreneurial Passion & Innovation Club (EPIC)
The EPIC club works to promote entrepreneurship as a career option among the students, encourage students to adopt an entrepreneurial attitude and realise innovative ideas into viable & sustainable business enterprises. The club acts as a platform for the students to interact with the entrepreneurial world through guest lectures, conclaves, business talks, industry visits, live projects, experiential learnings, etc.
Information Technology Club
IT Club of IIMV aims at inculcating technological excellence in to future managers by exposing them to emerging technologies, which empowers them to stay ahead in transforming business domain. The aim is to deliver technology excellence that enables future managers to reap the benefits from the emerging technologies. Technology won't replace the managers but managers who use technology replace the managers who don't. As managers, it is unequivocally important to be aware of the newest technology and to understand its benefits and limitations. Fail to do this, and managers risk getting run over by technology advances. The IT Club aims to make future managers aware of the current scenario to help them make informed professional decisions.
ARTquake aims at promoting and fostering art, creativity and extra- curricular activities in a space that is conducive to collaboration, learning, development of students beyond classroom, and manifest national level recognition.
Vatsalya (The Social Activities Club)
Vatsalya, the social activities club of IIM Visakhapatnam aims to promote awareness in the society by promoting and encouraging the people/club/NGOs that work to uplift the society and providing opportunity to the students by various means to work for the society.
The philosophy of the Sports Club is to promote health, physical well-being, and the development of physical skill. It also aims to make available to students opportunities for the participation in a wide range of recreational and competitive programs which will help in developing physical fitness, sportsmanship and leadership qualities. The club has been formed with a vision of providing a dynamic platform to sporting activities both inside and outside the institute.
